Manufacturing Growth Program Round 2 Now OPEN! 

Program Overview

  • The Manufacturing Growth Program is to support Victorian SMEs to expand their capacity and capabilities by providing funding for new manufacturing technologies and equipment
  • It aims to improve business productivity and competitiveness within local and global supply chains
  • Job creation, upskilling, reskilling are also key factors, along with supporting VIC’s transition to net zero emissions

What is the Funding?

  • Competitive Grants between $50k and $250k
  • Every $1 granted must be matched with a cash contribution from the business of $2
  • For example a $50k grant must be matched by $100k from the business, for a total project spend of $150k 
  • This is a competitive process with limited funding available for Victorian Manufacturing Businesses

Who and what is eligible?

  • Victorian Manufacturers with at least 20 full time staff OR a minimum turnover of $1.5m
  • Preference given to businesses under $100m and less than 200 employees
  • Types of projects include the purchasing and commissioning of capital equipment, and associated expenditure related to manufacturing product and process improvements, prototyping, evaluation and testing of new products and processes, and supply chain capability development

Key Dates

  • Applications must be submitted online by 5pm on the 19th December
  • Outcomes are expected to be advised in April 2024
  • Project activities will need to start within 30 days of the signed grant agreement, including at least 10% of project costs incurred within the first 30 days
  • Projects must be compled by 30 April 2025 (12 months)
  • No funding will be provided for activities started before the start date (agreed and signed grant agreement)

Business Requirements

  • Applications must be submitted online by 5pm on the 19th December
  • Approved projects (notified in April 2024) will need to be completed within 12 months, by 30th April 2025
  • As part of the submission, a project delivery plan will be required including project overview, resource allocation, supplier quotations, risk mitigation strategies, budget allocation
  • In addition, 3 years’ audited business financials, marketing/sales plans, and financial projections will be required to be submitted
  • Evidence will also be required to support that the business has adequate cash to fund the co-contribution amounts 

Assessment Criteria

  • Demonstrated need for government support (10%)
  • Sustainable creation of jobs and skills development  (20%)
  • Increased productivity and competitiveness (40%)
  • Capacity and capability to deliver the project (10%)
  • Ability to contribute to the sector and building resilient supply chains (10%)
  • Environmental benefits and the transition to net zero emissions (10%)

  • Industry 4.0 and Digitalisation strategy and implementation support
  • Independent technology support (vendor-agnostic)
